This week’s Engine Builder Magazine Engine of the Week is a 348 Chevy stroker engine by Newco Performance Engines, based in Kentland, Indiana. This build is running a SCAT forged crank with SCAT I-beam rods for 10.5:1 compression.
The shop took the original GM 817 cast irons heads and machined them for bronze guides, double springs, stainless steel oversized valves and added hardened seats.
The shop bored the stroker .030″ over and stroked it to 434 cubic inches.
